Shygirl on Tour
London singer and songwriter Shygirl's music is an eclectic combination of genres, including hip-hop, hyperpop, grime, and rap combined with experimental sounds. She gained notoriety working with her close friend Sega Bodega. She's known for her lyrical honesty and doesn't shy away from using stories from her personal life and past relationships in her music.
Shygirl released her first single, "Want More," in 2016. It was produced by Sega Bodega and released on the NUXXE label, which was co-founded by Sega Bodega, Coucou Chloe and Shygirl. She collaborated with Sega Bodega on two more singles in 2017, "MSRY" and "NVR." She released her first EP, Cruel Practice, in 2018 to critical acclaim, with Pitchfork calling the record and Shygirl "captivating." She followed up with her second EP, Alias, in 2020. In 2021 she released Blu, a performance film that features songs from Alias. MusicNGear listed Alias as one of the best EPs of 2020.
In 2021, her hit single "Tasty" was nominated for Best Independent Track at the AIM Independent Music Awards. In 2022, Shygirl was featured on the chart-topping hit "Bbycakes" with Mura Masa, Pink Pantheress and Lil Uzi Vert. In 2022, Shygirl also released her debut album, Nymph. It quickly hit the charts landing at the No. 1 spot on the UK Dance chart, No. 7 on the US Dance chart and No. 10 on the US Heat Chart.
The shriek on her hit single "Uckers" was a TikTok trend featured largely on makeup transformation videos. Her music has also been featured in Rihanna's Fenty Beauty commercials and fashion shows.
In an interview with Doechii for Interview Magazine, she said, "I like keeping performances as an experimental space and involving the audience in the process. For me, they're like another collaborator." If you'd like to collaborate with Shygirl and enjoy the freedom of her performances, get tickets to see her when she comes to a city near you.
