SG Lewis In Concert
SG Lewis' slippery electro-pop distills a whole night — from dance-club euphoria to after-party introspection — into warm, hypnotic soundscapes. Finding his signature sound didn't take long for the young artist (real name Sam) from Reading, England.
He first started playing guitar in bands with friends, before he quickly took to electronic experimentation and production on his own. His love for both the haunting sounds of singer-songwriters like Bon Iver and James Blake and the infectious club beats of producers like The Neptunes and Timbaland would inspire his first creations, which he began to post on SoundCloud.
When Lewis made the move to Liverpool, where he first dipped his toes into club culture, he began his career as a DJ, eventually scoring a residency at the city's popular Chibuku. Around the same time, his original recordings were getting noticed online.
In 2014, when he posted a remix of alt-R&B singer Jessie Ware's song "You & I (Forever)," it caught the attention of Ware's label, PMR Records. They quickly signed Lewis and released his debut EP, ‘Shivers' — featuring the Pharrell-approved track "Warm" — the following year. That track also received prime placement on the HBO show ‘Ballers,' helping expose Lewis to a whole new audience across the pond.
Lewis soon became a regular on festival lineups around Europe, including Pitchfork's annual musical festival in Paris. By 2016, he was ready to take on the States, making his debut at the Coachella Music Festival and performing at sold-out shows in major cities around the U.S. That same year, he released his sophomore EP, ‘Yours.'
He's since added a number of key collaborations to his catalog, and has even been remixed by artists like rapper G-Eazy (with his song "No Less"). In 2018, he dropped a slew of singles, along with an EP trilogy — ‘Dusk, Dark, Dawn' — which weaves together disco, techno, pop, and hip-hop for infectious tracks like "Hurting," featuring AlunaGeorge. As the anticipation grows for the release of his first full-length album, Lewis continues to build his fan base online and across the U.S. and Europe on his regular tours.
