Roger Daltrey and DSO performing Tommy was superb! Roger's voice held up throughout the night which was very hot and humid. He wisely uses back up singers and other lead singers to sing the passages that require someone who can hit the high notes. The backing band was very talented, particularly the woman who played the violin solo on Baba O'Riley and the DSO was excellent as anticipated. Overall, it was a wonderful concert!

Great show and Roger is still as awesome as ever at 74. Simon Townshend (Pete's brother) did a great job on lead guitar and his vocals were almost as good as his older brother. Tommy fans won't be disappointed.

Great to hear Tommy again
Really good show. Daltrey's voice is quite strong for 74 years old. Did Tommy straight through and then did a couple of Who songs and one from his new CD. I thought the DSO was a terrific addition for the show - added a new dimension. The drummer Daltrey has is amazing! Highly recommend the show.

Parking
I thought the concert was good, but not great. I was glad we were close enough to see the precision of the DSO, or it might have been a snoozer.
My big fear with Meadowbrook is the parking lot. We got there almost three hours early and had no problems. Getting out was not fun though.

"Tommy" Best Concert Ever!
Roger Daltry still has it! Despite the heat, his strong voice rocked, accompanied by the world class Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It was a night to remember in this great venue!

Daltrey and the DSO still have it!
Normally I find the pairing of symphony orchestras and pop/rock stars a little precious, but this one worked brilliantly. Roger looks and sounds great--hearing aids and all. I loved the way he acknowledged the reality of aging and keeping on keeping on. Bonus: Hearing him say "old farts" with a Britty accent! His band was great--nice combination of young and older. It was so much fun for this elder to "rock out" to a classic from the 1970s--the decade I came of age as a young adult. The DSO (whom I see regularly at the Neighborhood Concerts series) were very game at expanding the Tommy experience. I love their outdoor concerts, and this one was a real treat. Thank you, musicians, for subjecting your vintage instruments to that wicked humidity.

My Two Cents
Really not thing.... more like a rock opera. I should have known when it said the DSO would be backing Roger up. We left early. Lots of folks left early. But, I bought his new CD. Enjoyed that!

Still Sounds Great
Great show. Better than I expected. Sounds super backed up by a symphony orchestra.
