The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are a Minor League Baseball team located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They play in the Triple-A East league and are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The team's name is a reference to the region's history of pig iron manufacturing, which was used in the production of steel. The team's colors are furnace blue, brick red, steel and white. Known by some simply as the "Pigs," their mascots are FeRROUS and FeFe.
The IronPigs play their home games at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. The stadium has a capacity of over 10,000 and was opened in 2008. It is known for its unique features, such as the Hot Corner, which is an area where fans can get up close to the action, and the Bacon Strip, a section of the stadium where fans can enjoy bacon-themed food and drinks. Coca-Cola Park has also hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game and is home to the IronPigs Hall of Fame.
Since their inaugural season in 2008, the IronPigs have made four appearances in the International League Governors' Cup playoffs. In 2018, they won their first Northern Division title with an 84-56 record, which is the highest winning percentage in franchise history. However, the team has yet to win an International League championship. Notable achievements include Rhys Hoskins winning both the International League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards in 2017, and the team being recognized with the Larry MacPhail Award for outstanding minor league promotions in 2019.
The Lehigh Valley region has a long history of professional baseball dating back to 1884. The IronPigs were established in 2008 when the Ottawa Lynx relocated to Allentown as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The team has since become a beloved part of the community and has consistently drawn large crowds to their games. With their strong affiliation with the Philadelphia Phillies and talented players, the IronPigs are poised to continue making an impact in the world of minor league baseball.
