As an eight-time Grammy Award nominee, Ledisi has captured attention around the world, thanks to her expressive jazz-influenced voice and well-produced albums that boldly tackle personal subject matter. When on tour, Ledisi often collaborates with a large backup band, which creates a full, multi-layered sound that's a treat for the ears of every ticket holder in attendance. Her sixth studio album, Pieces of Me, was released in 2011, and her next effort, The Truth, is set to hit the shelves in early 2014. The album's first single, "I Blame You," is already available to stream via the Internet for free, and a series of concert dates seems likely to follow the album's release.
Involved in music her whole life, Ledisi has appeared on soundtracks and commercials and performed at the White House at the request of President Obama and the First Lady. The year 2007 marked the release of Ledisi's third studio album, Lost and Found, and it was noted for earning her two Grammy nominations, including a nod for Best New Artist.
