BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The Duprees formed in Jersey City in the early '60s and were quickly spotted by big band leader George Paxton, who signed them to his Coed Records label. They made their debut in 1962 with the single "You Belong to Me", a big band-backed interpretation of Jo Stafford's 1952 hit that landed them in the US Top 10 and went on to sell more than a million copies. The band's unique combination of doo-wop vocals and big band accompaniment was a hit with audiences, and they were a regular chart presence throughout the '60s and '70s with romantic interpretations of classic hits like "Have You Heard?" and "Why Don't You Believe Me". In 2012 the band celebrated the 50th anniversary of their debut hit with a series of stellar live shows, proving they still have the magic touch after all these years.
