Beck was great
Playing a great mix of old and new tunes, with the best "end of the concert introduction of band mates ever" (featuring segues into the Stones, Gary Numan, and Talking Heads), Beck was great. Only negative was a loud crackling sound the last third of the show, which was particularly distracting during his acoustic set. Well wort the four hour drive one way!

Stupid and pointlessly loud. Waste of time!
I like Beck, and I was very disappointed that the sound was turned so loud that all one could hear was distortion and a blur of painful white noise. It was difficult to even recognize the songs I knew best because of the volume and the extreme distortion it caused. I was wearing ear plugs, which take the sound level down about 20 decibels, and my wife was not. She found it painful, and I found it pointless. Mind you, for sound to be painful it has to hit 120 decibels or more. In short, the show was a waste of time and money, because the sound was so bad.

His talent shows
If you are a Beck fan, or even just a music fan, you know that he is known for his innovative style and lyrics. Seeing him live, you really get to see how great he is. That includes the musicians that play with him. Great show!

Beck was fabulous. The show was a dance party had by all. The Detroit crowd stood/danced the entire show. We had so much fun!

Amazing career-spanning set!
At this point in his career, Beck has 12 albums under his belt comprised of varying musical styles, so come expecting an eclectic evening. The Colors tour is mostly focused on his energetic beat-oriented songs from Colors, Odelay, Midnite Vultures, & Guero, so if you're only a fan of his somber acoustic material you may want to sit this one out. For fans who appreciate his entire catalog, though, this is a killer show! Detroit got songs from nearly all of his records, including a few completely out of left field (Pay No Mind, Lazy Flies, Hollywood Freaks, Paper Tiger). Beck's backing band was tight & he was clearly in a good mood, joking around, thanking the crowd for sticking with him for decades & taking requests from the audience during the short solo acoustic portion of the show. Overall, a great evening with an amazing performer.

Good Show!
With the exception of a time-wasting talking segment, supposedly to take requests, Beck put on a good show at the Fox. He mostly stuck to his best-known tunes.
BECK IN CONCERT:
Alt-rock icon and master of reinvention Beck made a return to form of sorts in 2014 with Morning Phase, a companion album to 2002's beloved Sea Change. Eschewing the irony and sampling featured prominently in many of his other outings, Beck's latest is awash with earnest optimism and acoustic instrumentation — the result is a lush, organic, emotionally charged tour de force that comes across as beautifully in live concert as it does on record. Backed by a full band, Beck hits the road in 2014 for the Morning Phase tour, which includes a much-anticipated appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Beck moved to New York in 1989 and cut his teeth in the city's anti-folk scene before returning to Los Angeles in 1991. In 1993, his limited-release single "Loser" became a surprise college radio favorite, eventually growing into a mainstream Top 10 hit and garnering him a flood of label offers. Signing with Geffen Records, he released Mellow Gold in 1994, launching to both critical and commercial success virtually overnight. 1996 follow-up Odelay would prove even more successful, spawning three hit singles and taking home several Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album. In the ensuing years, Beck's creativity and fearless experimentation have made him one of pop music's most idiosyncratic talents — the acclaimed 2014 release of Morning Phase, his twelfth studio album, proved that he's just as vital today as he was 20 years ago.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Beck was ridiculously amazing. If you get a chance to catch him live, do it while you can. He is a true showman and should not be missed."
"As usual Beck put on an amazing performance. He played a few songs from each album (including the reader), and he played every last one spectacularly."
"He plays a mix of his old & new material, both acoustic & electric, he breaks out the harmonica, then plays a cover of Billie Jean. What!?! I only wish it could have gone on all night long."
