Wunderhorse on Tour
Wunderhorse is the brainchild of South London's Jacob Slater, the former frontman of short-lived indie punk sensation the Dead Pretties. Since then, Slater's sound has shapeshifted into a melodic, sometimes psychedelic declaration of skill and thoughtful storytelling. In NME magazine he pleaded, "I was tired of having to get up on stage and pretend I wanted to throw myself around and smash things up every night and sing these intense songs." When Slater noticed that his passion for the music of artists like Neil Young, Joni Mitchel and Bob Dylan was influencing his songwriting, he began to crave a gentler sound. Thus, Wunderhorse was born. This new restrained intensity certainly has the industry's attention, with NME comparing Wunderhorse to Mercury Prize nominee Sam Fender. Still proudly influenced by punk, Slater's indie charisma led him to the role of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook in Danny Boyle's biopic series "Pistol". When the limited series debuted in May 2022, the songwriter released his debut EP Cub with five confident and power-packed tracks: "Leader of the Pack'," "Teal," "Butterflies," "Poppy," and "17."
Wunderhorse Live in Concert
Jacob Slater's reputation for intense, rowdy performances has evolved into emotionally potent performances. NME called Wunderhorse's recent east London Sebright Arms performance, "intense and thrilling" showing he is "quickly becoming his own person, and a rare, ever-evolving talent." Onstage, expect dynamic and reverberating performances bolstered by his palpable chemistry with the band. Slater is taking his introspective songs on the road and across the world, with dates scheduled for the UK, Europe and U.S.
