PSYCHEDELIC FURS IN CONCERT:
Immortalized by John Hughes' use of their song "Pretty In Pink" for his 1986 film of the same name, the Psychedelic Furs stand as one of the most commercially successful bands to originate from Britain's fertile late '70s punk scene. From the moody post-punk of "Sister Europe" to the soaring new wave of "Heaven," the band covers all their classic material at their nostalgic live shows, perfectly recalling the cinematic grandeur of the decade's pop music. On the road in 2013, the band treated fans to vintage guitar tones and frontman Richard Butler's iconic voice, building excitement for their 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed amid the UK's burgeoning punk scene in the late '70s, the Psychedelic Furs released their self-titled 1980 debut LP to chart success throughout Europe. In 1981, sophomore album Talk Talk Talk introduced them to American audiences, making its way onto the Billboard 200 with the now-legendary Brat Pack anthem "Pretty in Pink." With the release of third album Forever Now in 1982, the band made their first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 with single "Love My Way," an enduring cult classic that showcased their unique ability to achieve mainstream success without compromising their art rock ethos. With John Hughes' use of their track "Pretty in Pink" as the basis for his epochal 1986 film of the same name, the band achieved the height of their international success, paving the way for their continued touring nearly 30 years later.
