Teddy Swims On Tour
Teddy Swims is an artist that defies genres, a tastemaker who bends different styles of music into his own brand of funked-up hip-hop laced with pop and hard rock. Born by the name of Jaten Dimsdale, the singer/songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia, became an internet sensation in 2019 for his skilled and spirited YouTube performances, covering classics that range from Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" to Shania Twain's "You're Still The One," and everything in between. Listeners were drawn in by the rich baritone and cozy voice of the grizzly bearded, tattooed-face singer, who goes by "Teddy" to represent all of his past experiences and "Swims" as an acronym for "Someone Who Isn't Me Sometimes." Teddy Swims has quickly amassed over 2.5 million YouTube subscribers from fans as diverse as the music he sings. After signing a deal with Warner Records in early 2021, Teddy Swims released his first original song, "Picky," and took off on tour, performing sold-out shows across the country, venturing into uncharted terrain as he experimented with music, and defining his own genre by integrating those genres that he loves most: R&B, country, gospel, show tunes, metal, funk, and pop-punk. In 2021, he dropped his first EP, Unlearning. His Unlearning EP dropped in 2021, an eclectic medley of electro-funk fused with slinky R&B and hard-hitting hip-hop that makes you want to clap along and dance. The song "Broke" was especially popular, delivering some major Motown vibes accompanied by an outrageously fun music video that went viral. You can catch Teddy Swims on tour worldwide supporting his 2022 EP, Tough Love, to experience the harmonious blend of sounds and passionate performance that turned him into an internet obsession.
Teddy Swims In Concert
Teddy Swims is all about tying his past experiences together and uniting people from different walks of life in the process. As a former high school football athlete, musical theater student, and grandson to a Pentecostal pastor, he's used to navigating unlike worlds but says he's always felt at home in music. Not your average "country boy," Jaten Dimsdale grew up exposed to richly diverse musical genres that define who the artist, Teddy Swims, is today. By 2018, he had been in multiple bands, including the rock group Wildheart and progressive jam band Elefvnts. He spent time in Atlanta's post-hardcore scene screaming in the band Eris, sang '60s wedding ballads with bandmates in high school, and performed covers of '80s hair metal with yet another ensemble. It wasn't until the Teddy Swims project was born with best friend and producer Andy Maxwell that he was free to combine all the musical influences throughout his life into the unique style of sound that listeners love.
