I could watch this forever
What a unique experience! Didn't know what to expect going in. Very surprised at just how good this is. If you've never heard of Shen Yun, take a chance on it. If you've already seen it, consider yourself privileged. (I now consider myself as such.) When the show was over, I was floating. A really great time.

Shen Yun was unforgettable!
Typically, I'm not one to go to shows. I've seen advertisements for this and have always wanted to go. Sadly, many I asked weren't interested, didn't have the extra $$,etc. So happens, one day at breakfast with my father, we both realize we've wanted to see the show for years. Shen Yun was more than just a show, it was an eye opener into a culture I knew little of. Learned information I will never forget and wish the company the best future ahead.

Shen Yun was an exquisite show!!!
Everything about the show (music, choreography, colorful costumes, narration before each scene) was done with such expertise, precision, grace, and beauty that Shen Yun was exquisitely mesmerizing. I am so glad that I finally saw it and I will definitely recommend it to my family and friends.

Shen Yun was boring
too much MC explanations ; not enough acrobatic performance; stunts are elementary level

Leaves a Lot to Be Desired!!!
Overall, I was left deeply disappointed by the performance. Like most, I was interested in seeing this performance after seeing the many tv commercials for the show. However, as they say, the proof in in the pudding. First, the NJpac venue was fine. My only complain was that the sound level, especially the orchestra was very low. Perhaps they weren't mic'd. I'm not sure but it sounded like a musical sound track was played along with the orchestra which was odd to say the least. Regarding the performance, I found it very unfulfilling and amateurish. It is a clearly a very bare bones show with no glamour and glitz at all. The clothes the performers wore were very cheap looking as well. The dancers and acrobats seemed to be at the level you would expect in a high school production. Unfortunately, most of the performers did not seem to be engaged, many looked like they were just going through the motions. This was surprising since this was a Saturday night performance with a spirited crowd that was left generally disappointed. You certainly didn't feel like the performers were giving it there all as you would find with any broadway or off-Broadway production.. The show itself was very uneven. You had these shorts skits lasting a few minutes each. The skits, maybe 15 of them in total were suppose to tell the history of China, at least that what they advertised. As a American, I found very little Chinese history and lots of propaganda. Add to it the political overtones and you had the recipe for a show that I would not recommend seeing. Out of the (8) people in our party, only (1) person mildly enjoyed it. That should tell you something. .

SHEN YUN
Beautiful, magical, inspiring, touching, other worldly, majestic, humorous -- all of these words apply to the series of ancient stories told through the art of Chinese dance. The mastery of the dancers is amazing and their costumes gorgeous. We are transported to another realm through the ever changing sets and special effects. I was mesmerized. It is more than a show; it is an experience....if you allow yourself to become totally immersed, it will speak to you at a deep level of consciousness.

Amateurish
We were very disappointed with the show. We expected a Broadway level production. Instead found the amateur hour. The costumes, while colorful, were cheap and repetitive. The sets were nonexistent in lieu of a”high tech” backdrop akin to a 1950’s video production. The choreography was again repetitive and lacked syncronicity. The narrator was stiff, emotionless and resembled a wax figure. In short, the performance was disappointing and a throughback to a 1950s productions. Skip it! By the intermission we were looked for the exit so as to salvage an hour of our lives we would never reclaim.
