Philadelphia 76ers 2022-23 Season
The 2022-23 season marks the 74th overall NBA season for the Philadelphia 76ers, one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York. After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame.
Among them: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson. Currently, the Sixers feature potential Hall of Fame players Joel Embiid and James Harden.
The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances, and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone and Iverson have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of six MVP awards.
The Philadelphia 76ers organization is a Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment property.
